Learning Objective 2
I never really thought about the word digital before this class. I was familiar with it, but I never truly stopped and took the time to think about its definition. I connect to my phone, computer, television, and the internet every day, and now I am starting to better understand what I am actually connecting to.
From what I understand, digital is about taking something from the real world and representing it with data using values or units. Instead of being a continuous spectrum, like sound or color, it is broken down into smaller parts that can be counted, stored, processed, and copied.
This class is changing the way I think about technology. I now see digital technology more as a representation of reality rather than something that is fully equivalent to reality. Because of that, I try to pay more attention to how I think about digital items and how I compare them to the real world.
